I've spent years helping folks sell on eBay. One thing that confuses new sellers is how to delete eBay listings. To delete (end) a live eBay listing, go to Seller Hub, open your Active listings, select the listing, and choose End listing from the menu.

Here's a detailed look at how to remove live, draft, and scheduled items from your eBay account.

How to delete a listing on eBay

You can’t remove an active eBay listing by deleting it. Instead, you end or cancel the listing so it’s no longer available for purchase. Ending an active eBay listing pulls it from search results and stops new buyers from placing orders.

Follow these steps to end listings on both desktop and mobile:

Desktop steps

Step 1: Open Seller Hub from your eBay account dashboard

Log in to your eBay account and click Seller Hub from the top navigation menu. This dashboard gives you access to all listing management tools, sales reports, and inventory controls in one place.

Step 2: Go to the Listings section to view all active items

Inside Seller Hub, click Listings. You’ll see views for Active, Unsold, Drafts, Scheduled, and Ended. Click Active to see all live listings available for buyers.

Step 3: Find the listing you want to remove from eBay

Scroll through your active listings or use the search bar to locate the specific item you want to remove. You can also filter by category, price, or listing date to speed up the process.

Step 4: Select the option to end the listing

In the Active listings view, select the listing and choose End listing (or End item) from the dropdown. This action stops buyers from purchasing and removes the listing from active search and your live store view, while keeping it in your account as an ended item.

Step 5: Choose a reason and confirm ending the listing

eBay asks why you're ending the listing. Select a reason like “item sold elsewhere” or “no longer available” and click Confirm to finalize. The listing will disappear from active inventory but stay in your account history.

Mobile app steps

Step 1: Open the eBay app and go to My eBay

Launch the eBay app on your phone and tap the profile icon in the bottom navigation bar. Select My eBay from the menu. You’ll arrive at your seller dashboard, where you can manage listings and track sales.

Step 2: Tap Selling to view your current listings

Inside My eBay, tap the Selling tab at the top of the screen. This shows all your seller activity, including active listings, sold items, and drafts.

Step 3: Open your Active listings list

Scroll down and tap Active listings to see all items currently live on eBay. This list shows every product available for buyers to purchase right now. Use the search bar if you have many listings.

Step 4: Select the listing you want to remove

Find the listing you want to remove and tap it to open the full details page. Review the item title and photos to confirm it's the right one before proceeding with removal.

Step 5: Tap End listing and confirm

On the listing page, open the options menu (e.g., the three-dot menu) and select End listing. Choose a reason, such as “the item is no longer available” or “was sold elsewhere,” then confirm. This action removes your item from active search results, and it can no longer be purchased. But the item stays in your account as an ended listing.

How to delete a draft listing on eBay: Desktop

You might have draft listings, which you haven’t published yet on eBay, that you want to delete. Here’s how:

Step 1: Open Seller Hub from your eBay account Log in to eBay and click Seller Hub from the top menu. This brings you to your main seller dashboard, where you can manage all listing types, including active items, scheduled posts, and drafts.
Step 2: Navigate to the Drafts section Click Listings in the left sidebar, then select the Drafts tab. This displays all unpublished listings you've started but haven't made live yet. Drafts don't appear in search results or your public storefront.
Step 3: Locate the draft listing you want to delete Scroll through your drafts or use the search bar to find the specific listing you wish to remove. Check the title and thumbnail image to confirm it's the correct item before deleting.
Step 4: Select the delete option for that draft On the Drafts page, tick the box next to the draft you want to remove. Then click the Delete draft (or Delete drafts/Delete) button at the top of the list.
Step 5: Confirm permanent deletion of the draft eBay prompts you to confirm the deletion. Click Delete to permanently remove the draft from your account. Once deleted, the listing can't be recovered, so always double-check before confirming.

How to delete a draft listing on eBay: Mobile app

To delete a draft listing on mobile, compared to desktop, the biggest difference is how you get to the delete option.

Step 1: Open the eBay app and go to Selling

Launch the eBay app and tap the profile icon. Select My eBay, then tap the Selling tab at the top. This shows your seller dashboard with all listing categories and sales activity.

Step 2: Tap Drafts to view unpublished listings

Scroll down and tap Drafts to view all unpublished listings. These are items you started listing but never made live. Drafts won't appear in search results or affect your seller performance.

Step 3: Select the draft you no longer want

Find the draft you want to delete and tap it to open. Review the title and photos to confirm it's the correct listing before permanently removing it from your account.

Step 4: Tap Delete draft

From the Selling/Drafts screen, either swipe left on the draft and tap Delete, or tap Edit/More options. Then, select the draft and tap the Delete/trash icon. This action removes the draft from your drafts list when you confirm.

Step 5: Confirm deletion

eBay asks you to confirm the deletion. Tap Delete to permanently remove the draft. Once confirmed, you can't recover the listing, so make sure it's the correct item before proceeding.

How to end a scheduled listing on eBay: Desktop

Scheduled listings help eBay resellers earn a profit and manage inventory by going live automatically at a set time. But, if you sold these on another platform or want to remove them from eBay, here’s how to end scheduled listings:

Step 1: Open Seller Hub from your eBay account

  • Log in to eBay and click Seller Hub from the top navigation.
  • This dashboard gives you access to all listing management tools, including scheduled posts that haven't gone live yet.

Step 2: Go to the Scheduled listings section

  • Click Listings in the left sidebar, then select the Scheduled tab.
  • Opening this tab shows all listings set to publish automatically at a future date and time.
  • Scheduled items don't appear in search yet.

Step 3: Find the listing scheduled to go live

  • Scroll through your scheduled listings or use the search bar to locate the specific item you want to cancel.
  • Check the title and scheduled publish date to confirm it's the right one.

Step 4: Select the option to cancel or remove the schedule

  • On the Scheduled (Manage scheduled listings) page, tick the box next to the listing.
  • Open the Action dropdown, and choose Delete to cancel the scheduled listing.
  • This removes it from your scheduled list and stops it from publishing.

Step 5: Confirm the scheduled listing removal

  • eBay prompts you to confirm the cancellation.
  • Click Confirm to permanently remove the scheduled listing.
  • The item won't go live, but you can still find it in your drafts if needed.

How to end a scheduled listing on eBay: Mobile

Step 1: Open the eBay app and go to Selling

Launch the eBay app and tap the profile icon. Select My eBay, then tap the Selling tab. You’ll see your seller dashboard, including all listing types and items scheduled to go live.

Step 2: Tap Scheduled to view upcoming listings

Scroll down and tap Scheduled to view all listings set to publish automatically. These items have a future go-live date and time, but haven't appeared in search results yet.

Step 3: Select the scheduled listing you want to stop

Find the listing you want to cancel, then tap it to open it. Review the title, photos, and scheduled publish date to confirm it's the correct item before stopping it.

Step 4: Tap Cancel or remove schedule

From the Scheduled listings view in the app, select the listing and use the options menu to choose Delete (or the equivalent cancel option). This cancels the schedule, so the listing won’t publish.

Step 5: Confirm the cancellation

After you confirm Delete, eBay cancels the scheduled listing, and it won’t go live.

eBay won’t let you end a listing

In some situations, eBay blocks you from ending certain listings to protect buyer transactions and its marketplace integrity. Here's what stops you from removing an item and how to handle each scenario:

‍

  • Active bids present: eBay allows auctions to end with conditions based on time remaining and bid count. Once buyers place bids, your options narrow, especially in the last 12 hours, but eBay doesn’t completely lock the listing.
  • Accepted offer lock: Once you accept a buyer’s Best Offer, it becomes an order. You’re expected to complete the sale, but you can still cancel for approved reasons, such as a buyer-requested cancellation.
  • Allowed end reasons: eBay provides a menu of reasons, such as item no longer available, listing error, or item lost/broken when you end a listing early, and it discourages off-eBay sales.
  • Required waiting period: eBay restricts ending auctions in the last 12 hours. The main protection against manipulation is the rule that you generally cannot end an auction with bids in the final 12 hours without selling to the high bidder.

What if your listing has already sold?

Sold eBay listings can’t be deleted from your account. They remain visible in standard seller views for a limited time (often 90 days) in the Sold/Orders menu.

Completed sales appear in the Sold/Orders views during that limited time and help you track performance. However, for long‑term records, you may need to export reports. eBay controls how long these records remain accessible and doesn’t offer a function to erase them.

You can use eBay’s listing filters to keep sold items separate from active inventory and reduce clutter. In Seller Hub, open Listings and use the status or view filters to show only Active listings so sold or completed items don’t appear.

FAQs

1. Can I permanently delete a live eBay listing?

No, you can’t permanently delete a live eBay listing. Instead, you end it, which removes the listing from active search and stops new purchases. Ended and sold listings remain visible in your account only for a limited retention period, which is often around 90 days. You can adjust Seller Hub filters to show only Active listings when managing inventory.

2. Why does eBay say “end” instead of delete?

eBay uses ‘end’ rather than ‘delete’ because it needs to retain listing and order history to support disputes, performance metrics, and marketplace integrity. eBay doesn’t publish a rule stating that deleting listings violates its terms, but it generally retains data on ended listings rather than allowing sellers to delete them.

3. Will buyers still see an ended listing on eBay?

No, buyers will not see an ended listing in active search results or your live storefront, and it will show as unavailable to buy if someone opens a saved link. The listing may still appear as an ended/completed item in certain buyer-facing history views, but it no longer appears among your active items or on active browse pages.
